I was reincarnated into another world and became a witch so I want to live a slow life but the Demon King won't let me go.
[a while after miya came to the demon world]

"There's no butter!"
I clutched my head in despair. On the way back from an errand I was asked to do by Hiiragi, I spotted wheat and sugar at a street stall and bought them out of nostalgia, but I realized that I unfortunately didn't have any other ingredients. I can manage the measuring and baking with magic, but it's unthinkable to not have eggs, milk, or butter, which are the most important things for making sweets.
"Why?! I have flour and sugar, but no butter!!"
I tried shouting that, but after thinking about it carefully, eggs and milk are fresh produce. Butter is also a processed product, but it can't be transported at room temperature. If you think about it, it's unlikely that a capricious demon would go to the trouble of using preservation magic to bring it from the human world to the demon world. Even the flour and sugar, he said he bought them on a whim, so there's little chance that I'll be able to get them regularly in the future.
"Ugh... Now that I know I can't make them, I want to make them even more..."
Is it human nature to want to overcome difficulties when you know you can't do something? I forgot to call out to Hiiragi and dashed into the market. The merchant who was selling wheat and sugar earlier was no longer there, and I almost despaired for a moment, but luckily, just as that merchant was setting up shop, another merchant was preparing to open a small store in its place. Peeking out from among the packages that looked like merchandise, there was no doubt about it, it was a bag of flour.
"Hey! Is that for sale?!"
"Whoa! You surprised me!"
A beast-type demon with adorable blue eyes was startled by my enthusiasm, and his large ears twitched.
"That's it! That bag!"
"Bag... Ah, you mean the wheat. Yeah, it's our star product. Apparently, it's quite valuable in the human world. It's fun to knead it with water; it has an interesting feel."
I was surprised to learn from the merchant's boastful words that flour was apparently treated like a toy or something in this world.
"Hey, did you get that from the human world? What else? What other products do you have?"
"Huh? What are you, interested in human world goods? That's rare."
While surprised, the merchant seemed happy to tell me about it. He was named Bigu, and he often transformed into a human and went to the human world to do business. Like Hiiragi, he seemed to think of the human world as an interesting playground, and he bartered herbs from the demon world for various things, starting with flour.
"I'm not particularly short on money, but there are a lot of guys who like my herbs. At first, I was getting all sorts of things as a thank you, but eventually I started doing business properly."
He sells the goods he gets in the human world in exchange for herbs, and uses the money to grow herbs. He seems to be a diligent type for a free-spirited demon, and he laughed as he told me that he enjoys interacting with humans and doing business. His gentle nature made me feel gentle too.
"Hey, if I said I'd bring you some rare herbs, would you listen to my request?"
"Oh?"
Bigu perked up at my words. Bigu likes growing herbs, but he doesn't have much knowledge about them, and he only knows about the ingredients for simple wound medicine to deliver to the human world. I explained my knowledge of herbs that can be used to detoxify or reduce fever.
"Huh, they'd be happy to get that."
"Right? And I have the seeds right now."
"Oh!"
I got them when I was doing procurement with Hiiragi before. I thought they might be useful for something, so I brought them home, but I completely forgot to plant them.
"I'll give you these, so in exchange, I want you to get me eggs and milk when you go to the human world next time."
"Eggs? Milk? What's that?"
"Eggs are bird eggs. Milk is cow's milk. If you tell the humans who make wheat, they should be able to give you some. But they spoil quickly, so I want you to cast a stasis spell on them."
"...I'm not good at magic."
"Then, I'll give you this bag. It has storage magic on it. The things you put in it are frozen in their current state, so they won't spoil, and it's big enough to hold all of your luggage!"
"Awesome!! Oh, alright! If I can get something that convenient, that's a piece of cake!"
The storage bag for carrying things that I made with the magic I learned from Hiiragi came in handy in an unexpected place. I developed this to avoid carrying Hiiragi's luggage, as he tends to buy things on a whim here and there, but it's surprisingly convenient. Even the magical grass that keeps talking can be thrown in here and it'll be quiet.
"Then, I'm counting on you!"
"Yeah. I'll go as early as tomorrow. Look forward to it!"
Three days later, Bigu brought me fresh eggs and milk from the human world as promised. In addition to that, he started getting ingredients that he found in the human world and looking into whether similar products could be found in the demon world. Thanks to that, I was able to make sweets in the demon world just like I did when I was human. I was able to make butter by processing milk, so I was impressed with myself that the knowledge I had from the past was really useful. It's scary how well things are going.
When I made cookies for the first time and gave them to Hiiragi, his eyes widened, but he said they were delicious and he was very pleased, which made me feel proud. While reminiscing about my human days with the sweet scent, I enjoyed the crunchy texture.
Since then, Bigu has been getting all sorts of things for me, almost becoming my personal merchant. Neither of us could have imagined at the time that I would become the secretary of the Demon King's castle and be responsible for procuring large quantities of flour and sugar...
