The Duke's Daughter Goes Her Own Way

[Character Introductions and a Little Bit of Their Afterlife]

Translated by: ME

*Warning: Major Spoilers Ahead. Please finish the main story before viewing.*

Character introductions and a little bit of their futures. There are also illustrations (in the original), but they’re probably inserted in places nobody would expect. Perhaps there’s no demand for them. But I just had to draw them...! This is a rather silly bonus that completely destroys the serious mood of the final chapter, so proceed with caution.

Character Introductions (Spoilers Included)

Elizabeth Macnagan

The protagonist of the main story. A reincarnator from Earth. Her nickname is Elly. She's a gamer, but otome games were outside her scope, so she was initially terrified of the world she was reborn into. ...However, she bounced back in seconds. A girl with the audacity, resilience, and fortitude to live life in an improvisational, spur-of-the-moment fashion. She probably has a bit of love and bittersweetness too. She's a beautiful girl on the outside. The people around her likely misunderstand her in many ways (all positive). But that misunderstanding will likely never be resolved in her lifetime.

Leonard Francis Belkraine

The Crown Prince of the country Elly was reborn into. Four years her senior. Handsome, brilliant, universally charming, decisive, honest accounting, grilled meat set meal... a perfect prince who makes you want to list every possible four-character idiom. ...Or he was supposed to be, but because he was the only 'normal' one, he ended up being the comic relief. After the main story, he goes down in history as a Wise King. He's also famous as a devoted husband. The sight of him always standing close to the Queen is popular with the citizens. People aspire to be 'a couple like them.' He's sometimes treated as the national symbol of a happy marriage. He also took on the romantic element all by himself. Go, Your Highness!

Elrod Macnagan and Faralda Macnagan

Elly's parents. The Duke and his wife. Their appearance sometimes changes (in the illustrations). The couple who embodies the Macnagan Ducal House's motto of 'Long Live the Policy of Non-Interference.' They actually had a love marriage.

Elrick Macnagan

Elly's older brother. A pathological sister-complex case. His sister-complex was so extreme that he was confined to the family territory. It took nine years of confinement before he was allowed to leave the territory. The Ducal territory flourished greatly. He remained unmarried for life. The only thing he loved was 'My Elly Doll.' The only thing that surpassed it was Elly herself. A tragic person with a surplus of various talents, all of which were truly wasted. His will requested, [When I die, I want my Elly Doll to be placed in the coffin with my body.] The entire Ducal family collapsed in despair upon reading the will, which contained only that single line.

Noel Gray

Chief Guard Knight of the Crown Prince. A quite high-ranking person in terms of position. Looks stiff, but surprisingly isn't so much inside. His primary loyalty is to Leon, but he likes seeing Leon and Elly together. Therefore, he likes Elly, too.

Alphonse Norman

Chief Guard Knight of the Crown Princess. A flashy-looking older brother. But he is more serious on the inside than Noel. A few years after Elly and His Highness's marriage, he suddenly married Marina. Everyone was shocked by the announcement.

Marina

An orphan, formerly in the 'shadier side' of the trade, now a servant of the Ducal house and Elly's personal maid. She is an 'Ojou-sama Supremacist' and an 'Absolutely No Filthy Bugs' person. Her abilities as a maid are high, but she's also strong in 'other' areas. Her greatest joy is looking after her mistress. She decided to marry Alphonse out of a mutually beneficial agreement (to protect Elly while remaining by her side). There wasn't much love, but they became a tight-knit couple based on unity and trust. They had one son, and after he grew up, she quietly 'released' him into the Macnagan house. The son is now working energetically at the Ducal house.

Elsa Crowell

A former member of the King's direct special unit, 'Owl,' now a servant of the Ducal house. She was supposed to be Elly's maid, but due to her usefulness, she somehow became His Highness's attendant. Her father, or rather, her entire family, works in the shady underbelly of the Royal Palace, so she was trained from a young age. She hated it, left home, and ended up at the Ducal house. She loves her mistress, but her loyalty leans more toward the Ducal house in general. Since she felt Marina was enough as Elly's maid, she has been active in various secret affairs under His Highness.

Mariebell Fluorite

A reincarnator from Earth. Nickname is Mary. She thought she was the heroine of the otome game she played in her previous life... but turned out to be a completely different person with the same name. She became even more of a goofball due to the relief of not having to be the heroine, but she's probably capable when she puts her mind to it. She married His Highness's aide, Paul Nelson, after connecting over the very vulgar shared trait of 'Loving Money!' Blessed with one son and one daughter, and her underwear business is booming. She's simply happy. However, she became quite wealthy, which internally terrifies her. Simple, commoner happiness was enough for her!

Emilia Forsyth

Elly and Mary's contemporary at the academy. Probably the most 'girly' and romance-oriented person. She lost her physically weak sister to illness and devoted herself to finding a cure and eradicating the disease. She married immediately after graduating from the academy and had three daughters. A formidable woman who became a great historical figure in the field of medicine. A bronze statue was erected in her honor at the medical university after her death.

Linalia Floria Belkraine

The Crown Prince's sister and the First Princess. Nickname is Lina. A princess who deeply respects her parents and brother and wishes to help support them. She had a fated meeting with His Highness's aide, Duke Robert Arist, and later married him, having two sons. She and her husband dedicated themselves to the development of the nation. She would even visit construction sites for new clinics to encourage the workers, earning her the reverence of those around her as a 'Saintess.' ...She personally thought, [Stop calling me a Saintess!] but couldn't say it. After her death, she was canonized by the church as a saint.

Robert Aristoll

Head of the Arist Ducal House. His Highness's aide. He was busy putting out the fires of strange rumors involving his younger brother. He was truly relieved when the rumors died down after marrying Lina. However, the rumors only subsided; they didn't disappear. The underground forces of the rumor-mongers quietly expanded their influence in places beyond the Duke's reach, waiting for a chance to surface someday. After the Crown Prince ascended the throne, he became the Prime Minister and supported his reign.

Paul Nelson

The third son of the largest trading company in the country, Nelson Trading. His Highness's aide. He would later become the Minister of Finance. He thoroughly enjoyed managing the nation's economy. He married Mary for mutual benefit, but later grew to adore her. Due to his love for his wife, he enthusiastically expanded her family's company, only to make it so huge that his wife became terrified. Because of his love for his wife, he considers his own family a business rival, leading his family to say, [Seriously, cut it out!] He later entered into normal business partnerships with them, creating a win-win relationship.

Hendrick Orchard

Heir of the Orchard Marquisate. His Highness's aide and his cousin. Nickname is Henny. He is probably the only person, besides family, who calls His Highness 'Leon.' He married his Countess fiancée and had one son. He later became the Minister of Internal Affairs and supported Leon's reign. He regards the three royal siblings, including Leon, as his own younger siblings. He is happy because the three of them are happy. A genuinely good person.

Dee

A former member of the King's direct special unit, 'Crow,' now a stable hand at the Ducal house. He seems to have a complicated past, but since he doesn't talk about it, nobody knows. As he told His Highness, he doesn't have a 'real name.' So, he is called by various names depending on the location. He has a mysterious disposition that makes animals like him, like the princess of the Valley of the Wind. Since he genuinely likes Elly, he followed her and His Highness when they moved to the detached palace. How he managed to infiltrate the staff is a secret.

Cezar Victor

The former 'White Reaper.' A porter at the Ducal house. His full moniker was originally much longer, but it faded due to being too long. He now thanks the heavens that it faded! Also, he originally had an introductory speech before giving his name, and he is sincerely glad that it was never passed down! He has a uselessly dazzling appearance, but no one in the Ducal house pays any attention to it. So, it's truly useless. As a former assassin, he has no resistance to taking human life, but his mental fortitude is softer than tofu.

Nathan

A former intelligence agent from another country. The baker at the Ducal house. He infiltrated the Royal Palace to gather intelligence, but the security was too strict, so he shirked his duties. He was caught rotting away in a tree in the Ducal house's grove. He likes baking bread. He doesn't particularly care for eating it. As a result, he produces many strange breads. He married Anna, the laundry maid, in a workplace marriage. Neither of them quit their jobs.

Greg Wesley

A former Guard Knight attached to the King. The gardener at the Ducal house. After retiring from knighthood due to an injury, he was wandering around with nothing to do until the Ducal house took him in. He finds gardening enjoyable. He loves the time he spends tending to the grass for his mistress. The Ducal house has two gardeners; the other one was the one who chipped a tooth on Elly's rock-hard cookies.

Anna

Originally an orphan who grew up in an institution. A girl there gave her the name. The Ducal house adopted a policy of hiring a few orphans as servants each year to provide them with jobs, and she entered the house through this process. She was supposed to be a laundry maid, but she was trained in, or rather, eagerly learned many other skills besides laundry. A strange process ensued where she developed affection for the eccentric baker by constantly criticizing his bizarre breads, leading to their marriage. The triangle she used in chapter 25 was her own. Don't ask why she had it; you'll lose the game.

Thomas

He didn't appear in the main story, but he does have a surname as he holds a title. The Ducal House Butler. Originally from a collateral line of the Macnagan Ducal House and a retainer. When his father was the butler, he was wandering in other countries to see the world. After some this and that, he rose to the rank of instructor in a foreign mercenary unit. If you wonder what 'this and that' is, he'd want to reply, [What's this and that is this and that, of course!!] The military-style response during the Ducal house's 'scramble' is his fault.

Susanna Weimss

A Countess's daughter. Mary's friend. The girl who started the catfight at Elly's first tea party. Since that incident, she has worshipped Elly. Being 'tomboyish' (to put it mildly) or 'strong-willed and rough' (to be honest), her parents, begging her to 'be more ladylike,' sent her to the North Pole Girls' Academy. During her time at the academy, she achieved the great feat of three three-day suspensions, one one-week suspension, and countless reflection essays. Her parents wept. Rest assured, she did get married.

Florence Aristoll

A Duke's daughter. Commonly known as Miss Drill Hairs. She started the catfight at Elly's first tea party. Disgusted by her failure, her brother Robert sent her to the territory. She was granted permission to return to the capital upon her brother's marriage but spent the rest of her life quietly in the territory. About half of her 'steel-wire' vertical curls were naturally curly hair. She only appeared once, but she left such a strong impression on Elly that she was frequently mentioned by name as 'Lady Drill Hairs.'

The Senior Fellow

The 'master' of liberal arts, who kept taking the general education courses at Steinford Royal Academy. He actually had a graduation qualification and was only mixing in with the general education classes for human observation. His specialty is psychology. He initially thought of Emilia as a younger sister, but was swept away by her aggressive advances and eventually charmed into marriage. A gentle husband who supports his wife's dedication to medicine through the field of patient mental care. He was not given a first name, but his surname is apparently Carey.

Ingrid Everton

A Marquise's daughter. A reincarnator from Earth. She misunderstood the world to be that of an otome game she played in her previous life and failed in her attempt to replace the heroine. After her father's demotion to a Viscount, the family made numerous mistakes, eventually leading to the loss of their title and becoming commoners. She passed away young from illness, unable to face reality.

The Everton Marquisate

A family that was demoted straight from a Marquis to a Viscount due to countless mistakes. They were later stripped of their title entirely due to further misconduct and became commoners. Records show that within a few years of losing the title, the former Marquis died in an accident, the former Marchioness died of illness, and the son went missing. The daughter is as mentioned above.

Leonard Ernest

The Marquis's second son. The 'Sullen Glasses' or rather, the 'Intellectual Glasses' character in the game and in real life. He annoyingly interfered with Elly and was utterly defeated (analogous to hitting a haneman and getting hako'd in mahjong). He was rejected by Steinford Academy three times and enrolled in Cockford Academy instead. He stubbornly graduated in two years instead of three. He tried Steinford again, gained the entrance qualification, but failed the exam. He persisted and took the Steinford exam three times until his qualification expired, failing every time. His older brother, exasperated, told him to 'stop it already' and sent him to the territory. He was appointed as a magistrate but failed to get along with the local officials due to his overly twisted personality and was relieved of his duties. He later lived in a small house in the territory, called 'The Eccentric.'

Morris Sandill

The First Knight Order Commander's son. The 'Musclehead' character in both the game and in reality. He aimed to be the Crown Prince's Guard Knight but kept failing the entrance exam. After failing three times, an instructor asked him, [Why do you want to be a Guard Knight? Why are you so fixated on it?] which opened his eyes. He realized he wanted to be a 'Knight,' not a 'Guard Knight.' He took the exam for the Second Knight Order (responsible for city security, etc.), which suited him better, and passed. He is currently a knight patrolling the city. He married the daughter of a shop owner he met there after they started dating. Despite everything, he found ordinary happiness and lives a joyful life every day. Incidentally, the instructor who enlightened Morris is adored by him like a father. Even now, every line he says ends with an exclamation point! His wife thinks it's 'lively and fine.'

Elly and His Highness's Children

The Eldest Son became King after Leon's abdication. He was so busy clearing up the many tasks his parents left as 'homework' that he was later called the 'Reform King' by posterity. Since his mother's actions were so outrageous in various ways, he started keeping a diary to record them. This became a habit, and he continued writing the diary until just before his death. Historians are delighted when such a meticulous person exists.

The Second Son was adopted into the Macnagan Ducal House. He even volunteered for it. He was a mischievous child with a strong 'Elly component,' dabbling and showing interest in all sorts of things. Due to his cute appearance, which resembled Elly, he was subjected to Elrick's doting but made a hobby of dodging and counter-attacking it.

The Eldest Daughter was a cool beauty who resembled Leon on the outside. But her personality was strongly similar to Elly's. She became interested in the advanced mechanized civilization of the neighboring country and volunteered to marry into a Marquis's family there. She would send letters and illustrations of the interesting things she saw and heard to her eldest brother, but the illustrations were so fatally poor that only about half the information was conveyed.

The Second Daughter was the opposite of her elder sister, with Elly's looks and Leon's personality. Since her second brother and sister were not supporting their eldest brother, she decided, Then I'll do it! She stayed in the country to support her eldest brother. She married into a domestic Marquis's family but continued to serve at the palace, eventually rising to the position of Minister of Internal Affairs. This marked the birth of the Kingdom's first female minister. While it was expected to boost women's social advancement, her exceptional capabilities, inherited from her father, inadvertently crushed the spirit of her followers.

Tenki-chan and Professor Stein

The crest of Steinford Academy is an open book crossed with a pen and a staff. The motto is 'Knowledge is Power.' Incidentally, Professor Ford is a drawing of something shaped like the school building with eyes and a mouth. The creator of Professor Stein is actually the research lab lecturer. They continued to occupy the corner of the blackboard for over ten years after Elly's graduation. And then, they were accidentally erased by a new student.

ME's Note: Forgive me if there's a bit of name inconsistency. Just comment them and I'll try to fix it as soon as possible. For some reason the author forgot to list the Leon's other sister, maybe because she's barely in the story.
