As the lord of the territory, Servas issued an official notice to the relevant parties for an exchange of opinions regarding the launch of a new business, summoning them to a meeting five days later.

He also spoke to Lily and Dean about the non-confidential parts of the discussion, informing them that once things were actually in motion, they might be asked to provide guidance as instructors or even lead operations on-site. Both of them were left utterly dumbfounded.

「...Do you think I’m truly capable of such a thing...?」

As Lily whispered anxiously, Dean nodded with such vigor it looked as though his neck might snap. I worried he might give himself whiplash.

「You can do it. Becauthe even I can do it.」

(No, no, no, no!!)

To their tiny master, who spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world, the two attendants internally screamed a resounding "No!"

As for Sebastian, after being briefed by Servas, he seemed to have a mountain of work piled onto him. He appeared rather withered for about two days, but now he was moving about, looking incredibly busy.

He is quite elderly, so it must be taxing. I’ll definitely have to show him some appreciation once things settle down. Magnolia quietly pressed her hands together in prayer from behind a pillar.

Then, a reply arrived from Lady Daphne in the royal capital.

She wrote that she had been worried when I stopped attending lessons, but was relieved to hear I was well. She expressed her own regret at not being able to say goodbye, but was happy that I could now live freely, and hoped I would take care of my health. She concluded by saying she looked forward to the day we could meet again.

My round eyes followed the elegant script twice before I carefully folded the letter and returned it to its envelope.

(If I told her I headed to the West because of Sailing Sickness and I’m now in the middle of launching a business, she’d probably be exasperated and scold me.)

Magnolia giggled, remembering those strictly shining, light blue eyes.

...I wonder if she’d be surprised if I told her how I got out through that heavy oak door? Just thinking about it made me laugh even more.

Between making lists of necessary items, repeating the "standard routine" of being nearly crushed by Servas' hugs and rescued by Claude, teaching Dean his studies, and participating in the knight order's morning drills... Five days passed in the blink of an eye.

Every nation on the continent has organizations called "Guilds."

The "Merchant Guild" manages and oversees those involved in trade, such as craftsmen, shops, and workshops.

The "Adventurer Guild" handles adventurers and wholesale (gathering and medicine).

The "Magic Guild" deals with mages and magic tools.

Except in the Monteorona Theocracy, Magic Guilds are often established as mere formalities, usually attached to Adventurer Guilds as an afterthought. Azenda was no exception, and thus, the meeting included two guild masters.

「Hey, did you read this~?」

Without knocking, Victor—the Adventurer Guild Master who also served as the Magic Guild Master—pushed the door open and barged in unceremoniously. The master of the room, the Merchant Guild Master—a man with neatly slicked-back gray hair—replied with an air of exasperated resignation.

「How many times do I have to tell you to knock!」

「Don’t be so stiff. We’re being called in together, right?」

「...It’s an official summons from the Lord. Moreover, the Merchant Guild is providing the venue. There’s no way I could avoid attending.」

Servas, who usually wasn't one for fussy demands, had issued a rare official summons as Lord. It was irritating to see Victor acting so nonchalant and breezy while Dominic, the Merchant Guild Master, was fretting over the possibility of receiving harsh words.

「Somehow, along with the summons, there was also a request for a refrigeration magic tool.」

「A refrigeration magic tool...? He’s ordered something quite expensive.」

In Azenda, a country without magic, magic tools are quite costly. Furthermore, the magic stones required as a power source must be used constantly, and those are also difficult to obtain in Azenda. Dominic sighed, recalling the Lord who was even more brawny than Victor.

(Well, given that man, he might be able to hunt magic beasts in the northern forest and procure as many as he likes...)

「...Priest Sharon, some representative heads from the merchant companies, and Dan from the slums. That’s quite a varied selection of people.」

「The slum folk are behaving themselves, aren’t they?」

「Hmm. I don’t think anyone’s done anything big lately.」

Under Dominic's sharp gaze, Victor gave a wry smile, remarking that things were looking rough.

「It’s quite a selection; it must be a very significant matter.」

Dominic let out a sigh, the count of which he had already lost today.

「If you keep sighing, your luck will run out~」

As Victor said this with a laugh, Dominic glared and clicked his tongue.

The building known to the townspeople as the "Guild Hall" stood alongside several other buildings between itself and the church. Located in the glamorous heart of the city, it was a solid, somber-looking structure with deep coloring.

Made of brown brick, it resembled the square buildings called "office blocks" on Earth. In contrast to the sterile—or perhaps functional—simplicity of such buildings in Japan, the Guild Hall's pillars and cornices were made of white stone and adorned with carvings; upon closer inspection, it was a rather elegant building despite its heavy appearance.

Opening the heavy wooden door revealed that the first floor served as a general information center, where a woman sat at a reception desk.

...In an Earth light novel, a sexy older sister would surely be in charge, but instead, a very serious-looking woman in plain attire stood up.

「The party from the House of the Margrave of Azenda, I presume. Everyone is waiting for you. I shall escort you to the fourth floor.」

The second floor was the Merchant Guild, the third was the Adventurer and Magic Guild, and the floors above were for meeting rooms and storage. As usual, Magnolia was perched on Servas' left shoulder, peering curiously around the building.

(Ooh, it's a Guild! A Guild!! It feel so much like another world. I'm getting excited~!)

Magnolia grinned while watching the staircase handrail, which had been polished to a brilliant shine. It was quite a contrast to the other room, where various merchant heads were suffering from stomachaches and headaches.

「...Don’t make strange faces and behave yourself.」

I was immediately cautioned by my uncle, who had the disposition of a nagging mother. Behind him, I could see the stiff, frozen faces of Lily and Dean.

As the doors were opened, more than ten men turned their gazes toward us all at once.

「...Eek!」

I heard Dean’s small shriek.

(Wow. It's quite a sight with with many of them...)

For some reason, Hugo, Ethan, and even Paul had been summoned as well.

(...I suppose they're here for confirmation of the Sailing Sickness or the witness?)

When I turned my gaze toward the three of them, they returned a small, respectful nod. Priest Sharon was also seated in the back, so I gave a similar nod.

The many other adults present stared at the small girl perched on Servas' shoulder. Some widened their eyes in surprise, while others narrowed them with a fond smile. There were suspicious expressions, amused grins, curious gazes, and looks that seemed to be searching for something.

Seeing Hugo and Ethan move to stand, the others in the room hurried to follow suit. Servas raised his right hand slightly to stop them.

「Keep your seats. We will proceed to the agenda immediately.」

A small stir went through the room as he strode in. It was likely because there was another small child present. Dean, stiff and awkward, followed behind Claude and stood behind Magnolia once she had been seated. Lily lined up next to him.

「I thank you all for responding to my summons today. Now, regarding the business for products related to the Sailing Sickness that occurred in Crews recently and its treatment, I wish to inform you of the details and request your cooperation. Opinions and questions may be shared freely following the explanation.」

Servas' voice—low, clear, and shaped by years of leading men—echoed throughout the sizable meeting room.
