The Reincarnated Thirty-Something Woman’s Otherworldly Reform Life
[Side Story: Another Reincarnator (????'s POV)]
Translated by: ME
*****
I was born in a country called Japan on a planet called Earth, with a congenital internal organ disease.
Since childhood, I repeatedly went in and out of the hospital, with the majority of my not-so-extensive memories being of life in a hospital bed.
While I felt sorry for my parents, I also thought countless times that I wished I had been born healthy.
It wasn't anyone's fault, and there was nothing to be done, so I never said it out loud.
Around the time I had just entered middle school, a nurse assigned to me, seeing how depressed I was from the treatments, lent me some novels and manga she said she liked, to cheer me up.
They were the novelization and comic adaptation based on the hugely popular otome game *"Minna Anata ni Koishiteru!"* (Min-Koi for short).
—This was my first encounter with *Min-Koi*.
Set in a world resembling medieval Europe, the game features a heroine, a virtuous and cute commoner-born baron's daughter, who has romantic encounters with various types of handsome men... a prince, a knight, the son of a prestigious noble, a slightly older chancellor. It's a game about romantic rivalries, complete with the indispensable villainess.
In the end, the heroine becomes engaged to the captured hero, and the story reaches a happy ending—
You could say it's a common storyline, but for me, living a life full of闭塞感 (a sense of being blocked in), becoming engrossed in that sparkling, vibrant world was inevitable.
I soon started enjoying the game too, and my daily life became completely colored by *Min-Koi*.
It has no difficult worldviews, with familiar, easy-to-understand settings.
But it has the beautiful atmosphere of medieval Europe. A romantic picture scroll unfolded by beautiful men and women.
A sparkling school life, youth, and romance that I could never attain, packed together with beautiful foreign townscapes and the 'story' of overly gorgeous characters.
Detractors said things like "The worldview is shallow," "The life settings are too much like Earth, lol," "That's not medieval, it's early modern," "It's too clichéd," and so on.
But for people tired of their daily lives, being able to immerse themselves in the world of *Min-Koi* without thinking about difficult stuff seemed to work in its favor—the 'deliberately uncomplicated worldview' ironically proved successful, making it a huge hit.
There are countless good points about this work I love so much.
...But the ultimate, without a doubt, are the numerous, excessively beautiful stills!
It's said that one major factor in *Min-Koi*'s success is its beautiful character design.
First, the capture-target heroes.
The prince is a slightly arrogant, handsome main hero.
The passionate knight is a sturdy eldest son of a marquis family with blond hair and blue eyes.
The cute-type pretty boy, fitting the little brother archetype, is the son of a count.
The older character slot, combining adult包容力 (acceptance) and a boyish vulnerability, is the scheming chancellor.
And then, the hidden capture character, unlockable by meeting certain conditions, is the cool swordsman heir to a margrave.
...This person, actually... that would be a spoiler, so BUZZER SOUNNND!!!! (Buzzer noise)
A hidden secret about his birth...!! So dramatic!!!
Of course, the female characters are not to be outdone.
The heroine, the baron's daughter, is a virtuous, positive, hardworking girl. Unquestionably a 100% heroine index, a beautiful girl with gorgeous blond hair and eyes the color of spring buds.
She lived among the common people but was discovered to be the illegitimate child of a baron, and comes to live with her true father.
And *Min-Koi* has not one, but two villainesses—a double villainess setup.
One is the main primary villainess, Gardinia. A spirited-looking beauty with flaming red hair and startlingly blue eyes. The daughter of the foremost marquis family, she is also a hard worker, striving since childhood to become the crown princess.
An excellent student, always dignified, the very image of a noble lady.
With her sharp appearance and blunt way of speaking, she's a full-impact, unquestionable, reliable and stable villainess.
The other is the second villainess, Magnolia. A girl who embodies a fluffy 'girly' image with her pink hair and ibis-colored eyes.
...She's a bit simple-minded, a *burikko* (affectately childish) beauty with a baby face. Yet she's busty. She embodies the dream of most guys, but she plays silly pranks on the heroine, is just incredibly clumsy, and her actions are unimpressive. And she's the biological daughter of that chancellor...
Rather than a villainess, her foolish acts of meanness feel more like mob character antics, leading fans to call her the 'Overly Cute Super Mob'.
Preferences vary, but looks-wise, she's probably cuter than the heroine.
She *is* an idiot, though...
It makes you think, guys really do like that 'calculatingly cute' type of girl, huh.
She became so popular that a sequel was made with her as the protagonist...
That's *Playback ♡ Min-Koi II*.
Anyway.
In the original *Min-Koi* (called 'the first game' by fans), those two villainesses are competing to be the crown princess candidate, but like, no matter how you think about it, the smart and glamorous Gardinia would be the crown princess, right...?
These wonderful characters enjoy their school life at the Royal Academy, attended by the children of nobles, while unfolding their romantic situations.
And then. The heroine, chosen by the captured hero with true love, is united with him.
The two villainesses, their harassment discovered, are imprisoned in a monastery for life in the ending.
Seeing the young ladies who tormented the heroine so much crying as they're imprisoned is so satisfying!
Justice prevails after all! Right!!
By the way, my favorite is the adult chancellor, Gerald!
The fact he's older than the other capture targets, making him slightly more mature, is also a plus.
He has a prince-like face that seems healing at first glance, but the cold eyes and scheming vibe he occasionally shows make your heart skip a beat.
The reason he became like that stems from unrewarding, sad experiences in his childhood.
The marital relationship, which should have been built on sought-after love, and the subsequent family dynamics, were completely terrible. He's truly pitiable, and progressing through his story brings tears upon tears.
His voice actor is wonderful too...
"If you're the only one who understands the real me... (line said to the heroine)"
If someone said that near my ear, I'd die of excitement!
One day, when I was fourteen.
While, as usual, devouring the strategy guide, my condition suddenly changed.
In an instant.
Gradually, strength left my body, I felt cold, and above all, I was sleepy.
I felt the strategy guide slip from my hand and tried to pick it up, but my body wouldn't move properly.
I couldn't reach the nurse call button either...
Above all, I was just, incredibly, sleep,y..........
'If you like it that much, why not go see it for yourself? ♪'
It felt like a cheerful, yet very beautiful woman's voice lightly brushed against my ear.
………….
………….
And now.
I felt like I had been drifting lazily in a warm space for just a little while.
...Then I was being pulled and tugged with incredible force.
Whoa... OW, OW OW OW OW!! Something's stretching to the limit, creaking, it hurts—!!!!
Gyaaaaaah!!!! It hurts, it hurts, I'm being crushed! Something, something's being torn away!!
——--.
————————.
(Probably... it didn't get torn off...? I think.)
Just as the pain vanished, I was in a cold, hazy world.
Various sounds could be heard in the distance.
For a while, I was very tired, and sleepy.
I slept greedily.
And now.
In a fleeting moment, I opened my eyes to a dazzling light and found unfamiliar foreign man and woman peering at my face.
(!?!?!?!?)
Who... Wait, those faces!!
Hey hey heeey!!
Aren't you the *Rishua Viscount couple*, the nouveau riche nobles who appeared in just one panel around the middle of *Min-Koi* comic volume 5!? Huh? Whaaat?? What's going on???
「Ara ara, the baby has such a surprised look on her face.」
The Viscountess, or rather, the person who seems to be my mother, laughed, a *korokoro* sound.
「So cute. Here now, it's Daddy~」
The person who seems to be my father, with a beaming face, shook a rattle.
Huh!? Whaaaaaat!?
Baby!? Wait... My neck, neck! My neck won't move!! Something's wrong, my body won't move properly!!?
...A dream...? Or did I die and get reincarnated!?
Does that happen?? Haaah~? I don't get it!
\(゜ロ\) WHERE IS THIS PLACE? (/ロ゜)/ WHO AM I??
Huh!? Wait, someone! Answer me!! Answer pleeeaaase!!!!
